Dear Ohr HaTorah Family,
I wanted to share a short thought I said to my shiur on Shiva Asar Btamuz. It touches on Parshas Pinchas as well so it is still inyana dyoma.
One of the tragedies we commemorated this week was the termination of the Korban Tamid, the daily offering. Chazal did not institute a fast day corresponding to the last Korban Pesach or the last Simchas Beis Hashoeva to take place. What is so significant about the Korban Tamid?
The Korban Tamid represents the day in and day out Avodas HaShem. Although the special events throughout the year give us the inspiration necessary to continue our daily commitment to Mitzvos, it is our constant devotion to Torah even when there is no fanfare present that is most beloved to HaShem.
We mourn the loss of the Korban Tamid and anticipate its renewal. In the meantime let us focus on our daily Avodas HaShem. May that commitment be our zchus to enable us to once again offer the Korban Tamid.
